Piercing Fees Explained: What Do Our Piercing Fees Really Cover? Here’s the Full Picture 💉✨

Behind the Price: What You’re Really Paying For at Flux Piercing Studio

At Flux Piercing Studio, we deliver high-quality, safe, expertly performed piercings every single day. To the outside eye, piercing fees may appear simple. However, in reality, every appointment involves extensive preparation, strict professional standards, and carefully selected medical-grade materials.

So here’s a transparent breakdown of what goes into your appointment. And why our prices reflect far more than just the act of piercing itself.

🧼 Single-Use, Medical-Grade Consumables

Every client receives treatment using sterile, single-use items that we specifically select to maximise safety and hygiene. These include:

  • Pre-sterilised, single-use piercing needles
  • Implant-grade titanium jewellery (ASTM F136 or ISO 5832-3 certified)
  • Gloves (changed throughout the appointment as needed)
  • Gauze pads, alcotip wipes, iodine swabs (used for skin prep and cleanliness)
  • Disposable tools, tailored to the specific piercing and piercer, such as:
    • Marking pens
    • Receiving tubes
    • Corks
    • Tapers
    • Piercing sticks

After each appointment, we immediately discard all of these items to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination through our private clinical waste collectors. In addition, we keep an extensive, up-to-date log of sterilisation LOT and batch numbers for every item we use. As a result, we can provide full traceability and accountability for each client’s procedure.

🧽 Full Clinical Sanitisation Between Every Appointment

Every client deserves to walk into a clean, safe space. After each appointment, we clean and reset the space using:

  • Hospital-grade Clinell surface wipes and sprays
  • Disposable couch roll to maintain cleanliness and comfort
  • Time is allocated between each client to thoroughly disinfect every touchpoint in the piercing area

We also build time between each client to thoroughly disinfect every touchpoint in the piercing area.

Importantly, this step isn’t visible from the outside. However, it forms a critical part of our protocol, and it requires both time and high-grade supplies to protect not only our clients, but our team as well. Cross-contamination control remains a cornerstone of safe piercing practice; therefore, any studio that fails to prioritise it places clients at unnecessary risk.

Always choose a studio that upholds the highest standards of hygiene and sterilisation – your health depends on it.

🔁 Reusable Tools — Rigorously Cleaned and Sterilised

Not every tool can be disposable. However, at Flux, we put every reusable item through the same sterilisation process used in clinics and dental surgeries; without exception. Here’s how:

First, we run used tools through our Hydrim, a medical-grade washer that removes all debris and biological material.

After drying, we individually package each item in sterilisation pouches.

We then process them in our autoclave, which uses high-pressure steam to sterilise tools completely.

Throughout this entire cycle, we use medical-grade instrument cleaners. Although they are costly, they remain essential to achieving absolute sterility.

This strict regime ensures that every instrument we use on you meets the highest possible standards of safety.

💎 Jewellery Handling & Upgrades

In addition, if you choose a jewellery upgrade from our extensive range of implant-grade titanium and solid 14 & 18kt gold pieces, rest assured: we sterilise every piece before it ever enters a piercing.

  • All upgraded jewellery is run through our Statim, a specialised steriliser designed to quickly and safely sterilise individual items right before use.
  • This adds both time and materials to the process – but it’s essential for ensuring your jewellery is completely sterile before it touches your skin.

What is a Hydrim & Statim?

Your Studio’s Behind-the-Scenes Hygiene Heroes

In a professional piercing studio, safety and cleanliness are everything. For that reason, we don’t simply rinse or wipe tools down – instead, we put them through a strict two-step decontamination process using medical-grade equipment: the Hydrim and the Statim.

Step 1: Hydrim – The Heavy-Duty Instrument Washer

The Hydrim functions like an advanced dishwasher designed specifically for cleaning tools used in healthcare and body art settings. Before we can sterilise any instrument, we must first remove every trace of residue. The Hydrim performs this task automatically using:

✅ High-pressure water jets

✅ Medical-grade detergents

✅ Precise heat cycles

As a result, it removes everything that shouldn’t be there, far more effectively than hand-washing – and prepares tools properly for sterilisation.

Used by:

  • Dental clinics for cleaning scalers and mirrors
  • Medical offices for prepping surgical instruments
  • Tattoo & piercing studios for cleaning tools like forceps and tapers
  • Veterinary clinics and surgical centers

Step 2: Statim – The Fast, Powerful Sterilizer

Once we clean tools in the Hydrim, we transfer them directly into the Statim — a high-speed autoclave that uses pressurised steam to sterilise instruments. What makes the Statim unique, however, is its speed, efficiency, and compact cassette system, which keeps tools protected throughout the entire cycle.

✅ Sterilizes tools in minutes

✅ Kills bacteria, viruses, and spores

✅ Built-in drying for ready-to-use tools

✅ Ideal for quick turnarounds during busy days

Used by:

  • Dentists to sterilize handpieces between patients
  • Doctors and nurses for rapid sterilization
  • Body artists and piercers needing quick, reliable cycles
  • Medical professionals who prioritize safety and speed

⏱️ The Value of Time, Skill & Experience

Ultimately, piercing isn’t just about tools and jewellery — it’s about the hands and minds performing the work. Your fee includes:

  • Consultation time: discussing placement, anatomy, and jewellery options
  • Marking and positioning: ensuring balance, alignment, and aesthetics
  • Aftercare guidance: tailored instructions to help you heal safely
  • The piercer’s training, experience, and precision – all of which directly impact the safety and success of your piercing

Above all, we take the time to do things properly — never rushing and never cutting corners.
